Style File: Viola Davis Makes the Rounds

Posted on February 07, 2017

Miss Viola’s been doing the awards season circuit and it behooves all kittens and darlings to check in on her style efforts and render judgment and opinions on them. It’s good for the skin.

Also, it’s worth taking a look here because we think she’s made some interesting choices.

It took us a while to like this one. The shape and style are great for her, but the color scheme is really dull and the slightly askew print is really distracting. Ultimately, we came to the conclusion that this probably looked a lot better in person than it does in pictures. But it’s a well-coordinate look overall. A perfect day dress in a style that really suits her and doesn’t ask much of her. We think if the muddy browns could be switched out for a jewel tone scheme, this might’ve been perfect.

This, on the other hand, is just plain odd. That shiny, almost formal-looking top half does not pair well with the pants. It looks more like the bodice of a dress. We think this is a jumpsuit, which makes the disconnect between the top and bottom halves all the more pronounced. Plus those super-aggressive darts just took away her breasts completely. It’s weirdly armor-like in effect. We like the idea of her in a jumpsuit but this one’s not working for her.
