This one couldn’t be more straightforward, darlings. We take a tumble down the best-actress-nominee list, go over their red carpet history (Huppert, Negga, Streep, Portman, Stone) in surprisingly extensive detail, and make predictions about what we’re going to see from them come Sunday night. Not only that, we ran down the list of presenters, because you can always count on the ladies in that crowd (this year: Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Halle Berry, Charlize Theron, Hailee Steinfeld, Dakota Johnson, Felicity Jones, among many others) to bring their A-game if the name of the game is “grabbing onto the spotlight and never letting go. And if that wasn’t enough, we went off on tangents about Ryan Seacrest. Giuliana Rancic, Ross Matthews AND a comparison of the careers and red carpetry of Julia Roberts vs. Sandra Bullock! A veritable smorgasbord of red carpet commentary, kittens! Sometimes we shock even ourselves for our ability to wring an hour’s worth of discussion out of the red carpet.
And finally, because we watched it and loved it, and because it touched Lorenzo on a deep level as a linguist, we had to spend a few non-spoilery minutes reviewing the thoughtful and surprisingly emotional Arrival:
