Oscars 2017: Octavia Spencer Floats Through in Marchesa

We were happy to see Octavia in something poofy and princess-like. She’d been floundering in her style choices all through the awards season poledance and we were honestly a little apprehensive about how she was going to show up for the big night.

We are NOT weird! Or at least, we’re not weird about that. When you write thousands and thousands of words about one person’s style choices, after a while, you get a little… shall we say, invested.

So, yes. Happy to see this.

But we’re not without our quibbles. Hell, we’re nothing without our quibbles, right? Couple of picky bitches, that’s us.

Anyway, the skirt is gorgeous. Love the pale blue and the wispy, floaty, romantic feel. The bodice? Not so much. It looks too tight and a little binding, like she can’t raise her arms. That neckline and bust needed a little bit of loosening up to give her some room to move. It’s pretty and Oscars-appropriate, but it could’ve used a little fine-tuning.
