We’d hoped (and predicted) that this was going to be the Oscars red carpet exploding with color. After all, bold colors are very much on trend right now, and a good deal of the nominated actresses spent awards season ploughing through a pile of brightly colored frocks and suits.
But alas, it was not meant to be. The number one Oscars red carpet trend this year was white. The number two? Black. The number three? Gold or silver. Darlings, it is to yawn.
We found ourselves especially disappointed at the sight of Miss Nicole’s choice:
We’ll stipulate up front that it’s a beautiful gown. And we’ll even admit that she’s pulling off that peach color a little bit better than we thought, although it renders her own skin tone a little icy in comparison. It’s just that we’ve been beseeching her for a year to turn to glittery blacks with metallic accents. “Dress like a Disney Witch,” we said. And every time she did, we applauded her for it.
This is good – better than we could have predicted, in fact – but if all the details remained the same and the peach was switched out for a midnight blue or brilliant green or deep purple, would she not have looked so much more amazing?
On the other hand, we have to give her some respect for the lip/earring color coordination.
