Okay, so this all for a good cause and everything – and we’ve been to this runway show, which is really all about having fun and being a little glamorous rather than about high fashion. We’re not gonna get to far into the weeds of critiquing here…
But boy, did we ever disagree on this one.
Basically, it came down to Lorenzo loving Marchesa to bits and making the point that, in his opinion, their gowns never photograph as beautifully as the look in person. Tom says fair enough and agrees about the picture-taking point, but this overdesigned in a somewhat typical Marchesa way. The bodice actually looks like it’s collapsing under the weight of all the embellishments. But Lo insists about an overall exuberantly romantic and fantasy-based aesthetic with Marchesa. Individual elements are far less important than the whole.
Without doing an “IN or OUT?” vote one a charity event ensemble, where do you come down on this one, dolls?
