Emily Blunt Nails it in Alexander McQueen at the EE British Academy Film Awards

Posted on February 14, 2017

Because we’re getting a rather slow start this morning and find ourselves distracted once again by … things, we’re just gonna toss an easy one out there to get the day started.

Not that we’re calling you “easy,” Miss Emily, but we have little to say about this look except how much we love it.

We know we’ve railed against the trends for over-embellished dresses and forced whimsy, but we don’t think this one suffers from those problems. This doesn’t look or feel like random crap glued onto a dress. It’s integrated and thought-out in a way your average Gucci tiger dress just isn’t. It’s also strikingly pretty.

And LOVELOVELOVE the shoulder treatment. That finished edge makes all the difference in the world.

The skirt doesn’t feel all that resolved in relation to the bodice, though. The top half is intricately and boldly rendered while the bottom half feels a bit like an afterthought. Still, it’s a gorgeous look.
