Kittens, as much as we love some good coat porn, it’s rare that we get a chance to feature red carpet versions of it, since so few stars wear much outerwear in that particular venue. The one exception every year is Sundance, which offers up so much celebrity coatage that we can actually collect a bunch of them and do a rundown.
Now of course, most celebrities aren’t going to be wearing some sort of crazy avant garde outerwear design. And the setting of Park City in January doesn’t exactly call for Dior. Our point is that most of what we’re looking at her is just good basic outerwear. To wit:
Sure, it’s a bit schoolteacher, but what? She’s gonna traipse around in Versace? She’s fine, you vultures.
This is a basic coat, styled well. The turtleneck and sweater coordinate perfectly. Her hair looks cute. The boots are the exact right choice, although we’d have rec’d them in brown.
Always one to keep things interesting, Elizabeth goes for the “skin condition” coat.
Not content to leave things there, she also unveiled a bit of red carpet cosplay:

LOVE.
Twirl, Miss Stevie! Your tambourine’s on the stool next to you.
This outfit is INSANE.
…
We think we LOVE it.
Lady, you had us until we got to the fringe. That’s a blanket with sleeves.
Hahahahahahaha.
We want so badly to crack a million jokes here, because the combo of facial expression, pose, and clothing is somehow hilarious to us, but every single thing we come up with is too mean even for us.
It actually is a nice jacket.
Scrolldown surprise! We love the boots.
Again, we started in with the joke-making, but the more we look at this, the more we love it as a perfect Cool Girl look for cold weather. Where else can you work Film School Student Chic than at Sundance, right?
