Salma Hayek attends the 2017 SAG Awards held at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
All things considered – like her entire red carpet history of the last three or four years – this could have been a lot worse. The dress fits her – mostly – and the style flatters her – mostly.
The bust is fitted a bit oddly, in a way that obliterates any natural shape. It’s not that she’s too big-busted to wear a one-shoulder dress with a ruffle, but we think the fit could be a little less armor-like. And yes, the colors are eye-searingly awful, but they are, unfortunately on trend – although we’d argue that pink-and-yellow trend has been on a downward slide of late.
What? Don’t look at us like that. We didn’t say we liked it. It’s kind of tacky, to be honest. But it really is a little bit better than most of what she’s worn in the last year.
Discussion point: Yellow’s not really her color at all, is it?
Second discussion point: That bag is a Tragic Match. It would look great with some other, FAR less yellow ensemble. But pair it with that dress and it just looks cheap and loud. Sigh.
