Nicole Kidman, nun better:

Maybe we’re just stuck ruminating over The Young Pope, which was practically drowning in background nunnery for its first episode, but Sister Mary Nicole is kind of working for us here.

Except the hair, of course. But we should probably just stipulate that, until she starts wearing wigs or turbans on the regular, we’re going to have an issue with Miss Lady’s hair sitch for the foreseeable. She needs to give her hair a nice long vacation in 2017.

But we really love the stark, bold, vaguely ecclesiastic vibe here. It really suits her. We’re always imploring her to work black into her wardrobe rotation much more (and we’re usually saying the exact opposite about most ladystars and their red carpet style). The neckline and shoulder detail take what could have been a very plain LBD and turn it into something much more dramatic and interesting.

We think it was smart to keep any jewelry off the neck, but we’re not really feeling the shoes.

There you go. Tip to toe: ASSESSED.
