Natalie Portman Goes for High Drama, in Christian Dior Couture at the SAG Awards

And you know what? Good for her.

Even if it’s not a hundred percent working for us.

Most celebrity woman in advanced pregnancy mode tend to run away from the idea of highly dramatic style choices for the red carpet. Some go for pretty; some go for dignified and chic; some even go for sexy. But rare is the celebu-lady who opts for head-turning uniqueness when she’s in her third trimester.

And if she can combine that with comfort, then she’s pretty much winning the game.

Having said that, while we respect this choice (given her long bland red carpet history), we don’t love it. It’s hard to look at that much white dress trailing behind someone and not think it looks bridal.

Her styling choices didn’t exactly help negate that effect.

But it’s not shy, and it’s not bland, so it’s hard for us to really get up in arms over it. She’s comfy and she’s really photogenic. She wins.
