Kate Beckinsale attends The London Critic’s Circle Film Awards held at the May Fair Hotel in London, United Kingdom.
Sigh.
We feel like we’re always mean to Miss Kate regarding her style choices. We’ve been trying really hard to come up with a way to like this dress, given that there’s no good reason to hate it.
It’s fine on its own. It’s a white gown with a tulip hem and bell sleeves. It’s already a bit much, but it somehow feels lacking.
Part of that comes down to Miss Kate. Despite her gorgeousness, she never could quite work a red carpet situation as well as you’d think. This is a look that really needs some dramatic posing and probably dramatic styling. Not really happening on either front.
By the way, we’re ignoring the shoe situation completely because it’s painful in every sense of the word.
In the end, we hit on the one thing that makes this kind of work for us.
We decided to take this as a Princess Leia homage. Suddenly it’s fabulous.
