We’ve been staring at this all morning and even part of last night – and we still don’t know what to make of it.
It’s striking, sure. In the sense that it’s kind of odd and unusual for the red carpet.
What gets us is how, after years of glittery and beaded sheer dresses, this looks like an attempt to shift the trend slightly. But we don’t see how restricting the sheer and glittery part to just the bust and part of the bodice actually makes any sense.
In fact, this is something of a stealth Frankendress; two dresses forced into an unholy hybrid that should never have seen the light of day. God did not intend sheer gowns and Morticia gowns to be blended in this way.
And God damn sure didn’t intend for us to see so much of your undercarriage, Missy:
That’s just a bit too much visible bra and shapewear.
It’s not that you can’t have sheer embellished portions of a black gown. It’s just that this portion is so oddly conceived and placed. The way those sleeves join isn’t very elegant, to our eyes.
