Well geez, Ems. If this is what you’re wearing to the Golden Globes…
What on earth do you have saved up for the Oscars?
It’s not that we think this is the best look of the night or anything. It’s pretty, but it didn’t knock our socks off with its chicness.
There were a LOT of sparkly pink gowns on the red carpet last night. In fact, it was THE trend of the night. And while we love this, we wouldn’t have placed it too high on the “sparkly pink gown” list. There were others. Which isn’t to say it’s not lovely, just that our shock that she chose it has less to do with how it looks and more to do with what it’s saying.
But it’s Valentino Couture, for one; which means Miss Emma was pulling out all the stops for this one. No “I’ll hold off on the haute couture until the big night” for this one. This is why we’re always pleading with Amy Adams to step up her game. Like it or not, Oscars are won by ladies who play the fashion game well.
But even that isn’t why we were surprised she chose this one for the Golden Globes.
It’s not because it’s too high end and it’s not because she was required to save her haute couture for a rainy day.
It’s just that we’re not sure she’s going to find a dress more suited for this particular poledance than this one. After all, when you’re making the rounds and scooping up all the awards for your old school musical about Hollywood dreamers, you’re gonna want a sparkly fantasy gown with Hollywood-style stars all over it.
This gown is the perfect marriage of wearer, moment, venue, and goals. Nailed it.
