It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year, darlings! It’s that time that we get to tuck into a huge pile of “For Your Consideration” screeners! After we go to town on last night’s Project Runway and the distressingly poor showing by those finalists, we gloat a little bit over our red carpet tealeaf-reading skills, which got a bit of a vindication this week, and then gleefully tuck into the first three movies on our pile: Kate Winslet starring in the bizarre little Australian flick, The Dressmaker, Emily Blunt’s drunken stumble through The Girl on the Train, and the hypnotic cast and direction of Moonlight, which is easily the most affecting film we’ve seen all year. Not because we saw ourselves in it, but because we saw someone we never saw before and learned that his story is beautiful and poignant. Take a listen to hear our further thoughts on this gets-in-your-bones film. And also to hear us rip the other two apart, to varying degrees.
