Well, we can’t fault her for failing to bring the drama.
We don’t exactly like it. It’s very heavy-looking and she just isn’t the right woman for it. It’s swallowing her alive. A classic “the dress is wearing her” moment. But she is quite preg at the moment, so practically any formal gown is going to look overwhelming in some way. A less bold choice would’ve called for dark, plain minimalism. The fact that she chose drama and (in its own way) glamour is a mark in its favor, even if she’s having trouble pulling it off. Despite the awkwardness of it, and the poor suitability of the style for her, there’s a regal quality to the look that most actresses would find hard to pull off. It seems to come pretty naturally to her here. Very much a look that’s far more than the sum of its parts.
