Or maybe it just seems that way.

There are things in these pictures we hate, such as the hair and the kiss-blowing, but one thing we don’t hate is the suit. It’s a little weird and overdesigned in that 2016 way that we hate, but it has one important quality to it that has us leaning toward loving it. It’s not Madonna doing tired Madonna drag. Don’t get us wrong, it’s not the freshest look in the world. And we’re pretty sure if we looked over Madge’s 35-year fashion history, we could find something that looks like this. But we could probably pick any look on any red carpet right now and find a Madge reference to it. Girlfriend’s been wearing a LOT of clothes over the past three decades. The point is, this isn’t Madge cliche. It doesn’t look like something she wore in a music video circa 1992. That’s all we’ve ever asked from her on the style front. To not get stale or spend so much time rehashing old looks. You’re Madonna, dammit. Your greatest ability as an artist and celebrity was always your ability to not get stale. Keep it up, girl. We approve of this.

But not the bow tie. That’s just silly.
