The bland leading the bland:
Wearing a tuxedo with an open shirt and no tie is just stupid. Wear a suit if you want to wear a suit, but an actual tux calls for neckwear. If we sound rigid and dogmatic about this it’s by design. We’re usually fairly open about the so-called “rules” of style, but we still think certain garments demand certain choices. Just as a glittery gown will always, in our perspective, call for a done-up face, a tuxedo will always require the final formality of a tie. If you want to do the Sinatra thing and leave it undone around your neck, go ahead. We wouldn’t love it and we’d think it was an affectation, but at least you would be demonstrating an understanding of what a tux is and what it requires. Also, this tux looks cheap and surprisingly poorly fitted. And to be honest, a tux is a little formal for the Critics’ Choice Awards anyway. We wonder if he got there, realized most of the men were in suits, and ripped off his tie in a frantic last-minute attempt to fit in.
She’s alright. Bad hair, though.
