Style Double Shot: Hailee Steinfeld, Those Aren’t Your Dresses

Posted on November 14, 2016

We spent a small amount of time during our recent podcast hashing out what we saw as the problems with Miss Hailee’s red carpet style. In response, she keeps giving us the finger.

Figuratively speaking, of course.

We put to you that this is still vaguely tried hard in that Balmain-scented, Kardashian-esque way of so many of her ensembles. However, this has a certain flair and pop to it that elevates it just a little. We wish it was lined, of course. Also the hem could be a bit lower. And a demure slit in the skirt would help the shape.  But it’s not terrible. Yeah, that’s backhanded, but what can we say?

And here’s the other common mistake she makes. For every try-hard look, there’s a basic one. This isn’t too bad either. We think the issue with both of these not-bad looks is that they don’t really do anything for her. They don’t actively make her look worse, but she doesn’t exactly come alive in them either. Pretty enough, but neither style seems to really speak to her.
