Octavia Spencer Takes it Girly for the American Music Awards

Posted on November 22, 2016

We were pleasantly surprised by this turn; so much so that we were willing to overlook a few things at first.

We were blinded by the cuteness, is what we’re trying to say. It’s not often we see her attempt this sort of girly-ness in her style, which is where the pleasant surprise part comes in. And we think this all really works for her except for the skirt/top meeting. That needs to be resolved somehow, either with a belt, by lowering the skirt, by untucking the top, or by figuring out a way to keep the tuck in place for pictures. We also think the clutch doesn’t really go with the look. It’s the kind of thing you sport with a sleek black gown. Still, it’s a cute idea that only needs a little bit of styling/zhuzhing/engineering to get right.
