Natalie Portman Wrestles Rodarte Into Submission at the Gotham Independent Film Awards

Posted on November 29, 2016

Somehow, Miss Natalie, who never met a bland dress she didn’t immediately fall in love with, has made a frock from Rodarte, a team that has never designed anything that didn’t look a little-to-MAJORLY F’d-up, look kind of sweet and plainly pretty.

Kind of.

We don’t love this by any means, but it’s both fairly decent for a Rodarte and fairly stylish for a Portman choice. The color scheme’s a little odd for an embroidered floral motif, but we suppose the browns and autumnal tones give it a little bit of season-appropriate edge. That’s entirely too much white lace for our tastes, though. Kind of a deal-breaker, that part. And we seem to be saying this a lot lately but a pair of pumps would have finished this off better; possibly in a bronze.

If nothing else, this says to us that she’s trying to make an impact as she heads into awards season with the wind at her back.
