Heidi Klum launches the Heidi Klum Swim line at Bloomingdale’s in New York City.
This woman is becoming the Donald Trump of the retail fashion world.
But to give her credit, she’s amazingly good at cashing in on her image in a way that makes sense. Heidi Klum Swim or Heidi Klum Intimates or Heidi Klum Activewear all play off her past as a model for Victoria’s Secret and Sport’s Illustrated, among others; just as her Kids line played off her image as a mother of four.
Put it this way: she hasn’t tried to launch Heidi Klum Couture. She’s been admirably good about staying in her lane, which is probably why she’s reached such success in her post-modeling career.
From a style perspective, this is all okay, we guess. The skirt’s a little silly. One thing about her product launch style: she tends to dress somewhat demurely (in comparison to her red carpet style) when surrounded by models wearing her branded underwear and swimsuits. Again: it’s smart, because the focus is on her as a businesswoman and spokesperson, rather than as a body model.
