Hailee Steinfeld in Reem Acra at the InStyle Golden Globe Awards Celebration

Hailee Steinfeld attends the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and InStyle 2017 Golden Globe Awards Celebration at Catch LA in West Hollywood, California.

We just spent ten minutes in yesterday’s podcast doing a style profile on Miss Hailee and coming to the conclusion that her most consistent style mistake is that she’s Little Miss Tryhard, way too often.

This does not do much to change our minds on the matter.

But we can be big about it and admit that this look is fine and doesn’t really exhibit the Kardashian-esque wannabe issues that we claimed were her biggest problem. We can’t say we love this dress. She kind of looks like she’s modeling at an upholstery industry convention. But it’s not try-hard in the “Don’t I look like Kendall” sense, which makes it one of the better looks from her corner in a while. Maybe a bit grandiose and a bit basic, but it’s okay.

However, she could still use a makeover. When she tries to look youthful she comes off wannabe and when she tries to look sophisticated it comes off a little over-the-top. We think she can find a middle ground of youthful sophistication. Getchaself some Miu Miu, girl.
