There was a time, probably a couple of years back, when we’d look at a dress like this and claim that it was too busy; that the colors were too discordant and the design elements far too numerous. But this is how fashion changes people’s minds over time. We’re so sick and tired of over-embroidered, over-applique’d and generally over-embellished gowns weighed down with ridiculousness that a too-busy floral feels downright minimalist in comparison. Thus does fashion win over hearts and minds. In order to get a fashionista to accept super-busy florals, you have to bombard them first with ugly over-designed frocks by the metric f-ton. Those sneaky bastards.
Anyway, we’d have panned this 5 years ago, but to our 2016 eyes, it looks fairly pretty. If nothing else, it really suits her. We’re not crazy about the pink cuffs, collar and hem. We’re choosing not to see the whimsical little bugs.
