Tilda Swinton makes an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote her new movie “Doctor Strange.”
Y’know?
We’re afraid we’re going to have to go with “disappointed.”
You’d think Lady Tilda in Schiaparelli would be a no-brainer, but except for the print, there’s not a lot to recommend here for her. That isn’t just a dowdy dress, that is a dowdy Queen Elizabeth II dress. That’s a sunday church dress for an octogenarian. And while we could be convinced that the intent was to force a juxtaposition by having the Bowie-esque Tilda sporting such a moldy old shape in the hopes that the result would be ironic or striking somehow, it failed in that aspect. We think you can put her in very standard and basic dresses and have it be interesting, so long as it’s the right dress and it’s styled well. This just feels like a frock and heels thrown at her with little consideration as to whether it worked for her.
We never thought we’d say this, but Tilda? Girl? That’s not your dress.
We’re not entirely sure whose dress it is, but we feel like an Ellie Kemper or Anna Kendrick might be able to do something with this one.
