Meryl Streep is let down by bad tailoring at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2016

Meryl Streep attends the Tokyo International Film Festival 2016 Opening Ceremony at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Japan.

You almost had yourself a perfect fashion moment, Meryl.

This is fun, eye-catching and uniquely beautiful. Her styling is gorgeous. Love the hair, jewelry and frames. But as much as we love this choice of dress, if it couldn’t be fitted or altered specifically for her (and she’s GODDAMNED MERYL STREEP SO IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN, FREE OF CHARGE), it might have been better left on the rack. Everything from the neck down to the bust is awful. The sleeves are hanging off her and the addition of an underdress (or glorified slip) only distracts with the addition of straps. It’s a shame, because this could have been a stunner. We’re side-eyeing the hell out of the Valentino folks for letting a legend go out in public in a dress that practically screams “BORROWED” because it fits her so poorly.
