Kate Hudson attends the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York City.
We kept staring at this, claws at the ready, just waiting for something bitchy to spring forth from our mouths. We’ve been so repetitive about not loving the trend of wide, plunging necklines – especially when they’re forced onto dress styles that don’t necessarily call for them, like this one. But after a while, we realized our usual complaints didn’t apply. The proportions actually work here. This isn’t a high-waisted sleeveless gown. Those are the kinds of dresses that look weird with wide plunging necklines. But this is just below knee-length, with long sleeves, accentuated shoulders and a twist at the waist, giving it some visual interest. All of those elements balance the neckline out perfectly. It’s a well-designed and thought-out dress.
Also, we love the print.
In other, less complimentary news, the earrings and makeup are too glam for the dress. The idea of navy blue accessories is a good one, but that clutch doesn’t quite have the oomph. The shoes are fine.
