Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga are the perfect couple at the “Loving” New York premiere

Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga attend the New York Premiere of ‘Loving’ at Landmark Sunshine Theater in New York City.

Pardon the rather obvious pun which we promise not to use again once we get it out of our systems, but we are LOVING the style choices these two are making for this poledance.

Anyway, just look at this gorgeous pair:

Like all great romantic couples, they not only look good together, they each make the other look even more attractive. Of course, they’re not a romantic couple in what is charmingly called “real” life, but they’ve been smartly playing up the imagery on this tour as if they were. Clearly, decisions were made to ensure that they each dressed up to the other’s level and that they each wore an outfit that stood on its own but complements the other nicely. If we sound like we’re gushing it’s because we so rarely see male and female co-stars equally as committed to the style of their poledance.

Now, don’t get us wrong here. Ruth is wearing a Rodarte, which means it’s a pretty wackadoo design. Rodarte is Turkish for “wackadoo,” after all. But two things about this dress: first, it’s not nearly as wackadoo as the usual fare from that house, and second, she’s got the skills and the poise to pull it off by making it appear a lot less wackadoo than it actually is.

His suit’s a little tight and he should have shaved, but he’s serving up that unlikely fantasy, The Shy Tweedy Guy With the Secret Killer Bod Underneath.

Y’know? We were going to write more after that but we’re pretty sure your mind locked in on that last phrase and we lost you. Which makes this the perfect time to tell you that we totally bullshitted you on that whole Turkish thing.
