Jenna Coleman attends a photocall of “Victoria” at 2016 MIPCOM in Cannes, France.
Darlings! When was the last time we had a good, meaty FRANKENDRESS to tuck into?
Thank you, Jenna, for reminding us that such things still exist in the fashion world. We’ve been so consumed with forced whimsical embroidery and beaded sheers and plunging necklines that we forgot the fashion folk still love to cram as many dress designs into one dress as is humanly possible, resulting in an unholy and unliving hybrid of dresses that God, man and nature itself never intended. It’s ALIVE, darlings! ALIVE, we tell you!
And it’s still quite hiddy.
Dear Fashion people,
Despite Jenna working her hardest to prove us wrong, there is probably not a large market for ’70s upholstery/camping blanket hybrid frocks.
Jenna Coleman is a charming screen presence and a decent little actress who’s particularly well-suited for period drama, but we haven’t yet felt any great desire to catch this one. What are we missing here? Does this have the potential to be the next Downton Abbey-esque British costume drama to sweep the states? We’ll be catching it, no doubt. And we’re sure we’ll have things to say about the costume design once we get a better look, but it hasn’t yet moved into the future must-see TV column for us.
Then again, we never need too much convincing to stare at Rufus Sewell’s cheek bones for an hour or so at a time.
