Dakota Fanning attends a special screening of “American Pastoral” held at The Academy Theatre in Beverly Hills, California.
We must all tread lightly, darlings. The Fanning sisters have recently discovered all the colors in the rainbow and have been trying them out, one by one, after years of colorless and washed-out looks. It’s, as Martha would say, a good thing.
But that doesn’t mean every choice is going to be the right one.
To be fair, the color’s not really the issue. It’s not among the top shades we’d recommend for her, but it’s a nice enough orange for this time of year. The dress is shaped nicely and the fit is fairly impressive. We don’t like the hem length too much or the fact that it’s asymmetrical, but we’re not falling apart about it or anything. On the other hand, those cutouts and triangles are a little tacky. Worse, they pull on the bust giving it a scalloped edge across the bottom that we’re not convinced is intentional.
We don’t know… there are things we don’t like here, but they don’t quite add up to the more intense dislike of the dress we have overall. In other words, we only have a few minor critiques centered around one design element, but we come close to hating the dress for itself. As much as we try to justify it or make our critiques constructive, it really just comes down to us not liking this particular dress for her.
