Cate Blanchett attends the IWC Schaffhausen Dinner Gala in Honour of the British Film Institute at Rosewood London in London, England.
Apparently, Miss Cate was standing at the end of the runway in Milan the other day, ready to rip this dress right off the model’s back.
And that is why, among celebrity ladykind, Cate is one of several co-Empresses of style, while the best the rest can hope to be considered is the rather broad “fashionista.” Sorry, fashionistas, but it takes an Empress to suss this one look out of that cacophony and know in an instant that she’d be wearing it before the week was up.
Love the look, in case you can’t tell. The ruffles and swoops all verge on being a bit too much, but good bearing and a clean bottom half (from a design perspective, you dirty birds) help balance the effect out. Honestly, there are two tiny little details that bug us far more than the over-the-top shape: the fringe on the bow and the fact that she felt she had to wear the contractually obligated watch timepiece over the cuff.
