Darlings, welcome back to our “Translating the Trends” series, where we look at the runways for fall 2016 and then set Lorenzo loose as your personal shopper to pick out real-world options to freshen up your look. We went on a shopping spree for the boys last time, but we’re back in the women’s department and ready to be your trend whores for hire.
Or something. We admit that last sentence got away from us at the end.
Anyway, the trend of the day is GREEN:
3.1. Phillip Lim | A Détacher | Acne | Agnès B. | Alberta Ferretti
Alexandra Vauthier | Andrew Gn | Anna Sui | Arthur Arbesser | Ashish
Ashley Williams | Balenciaga | Balmain | Barbara Bui | Bibhu Mohapatra
Boss | Burberry | Christian Dior | Costume National | Creatures of Comfort
Delpozo | Emilio Pucci | Emporio Armani | Fyodor Golan | Gucci
Haider Ackermann | Hervé Léger by Max Azria | Jasper Conran | Jenny Packham | Joseph
Loewe | Marques Almeida | Max Mara | Michael Kors | Milly
Monique Lhuillier | Paul Joe | Prada | Ralph Russo | Reem Acra
Roland Mouret | Tony Ward | Vera Wang | Veronique Leroy | Viktor & Rolf
Vionnet | Vivienne Westwood | Yanina Couture | Zac Posen | Zuhair Murad
And like so many of the color trends lately, there is no one green that’s dominating. It ranges from mossy sages to brilliant emeralds and everything in between. If there is a rule for greens this season it’s wear whatever you want, but make sure it’s bold and declarative.
Bold and declarative?!? Those are our second middle names! Right after Fabulous and Opinionated! Let’s go shopping, ladies! First floor: BAGS:
See what we mean? Every green under the sun. Personally, we’re partial to the brighter, bolder greens this season, which is why things like that Neiman Marcus “Valeria” tote is popping out for us. It’s bold and sharp and a steal right now. And it’s the kind of bag that you’d get a ton of use out of. The Gwen Stefani cross-body chain bag is also super cute and cheap at the moment. At the less affordable end is that gorgeous bright green Kate Spade. On the more subdued end of the color scale, the Longchamp tote is another bag that’ll give you a ton of use. The Tommy Hilfiger messenger back has a classic, slightly dressy feel to it. Perfect for work. The Neiman Marcus satchel is simple, but with just enough color to it to dress up an outfit.
Next floor: SHOES.
Again, our eyes tend to go toward the bolder greens. Loving both the Nine West and Vaneli Gaenor flats. But the mint green Anne Klein ones are really adorable. The Enzo Angeliolini loafers are gorgeous and chic. They’d turn jeans dressy. The Nine West and Hush Puppies versions are slightly sportier but just as stylish. Also loving the big strappy Nine West wedges in the dark green, for those fall days and places where it’s warm enough for them. For super comfort, you can’t go wrong with any of the VANS or Converse choices. And if we had to pick a heel for ya, it would be any of the Nine West pumps, which offer bright, trendy color and a shape that never goes out of style. Those quilted Steve Madden boots are rather kickass, wouldn’t you say?
Next floor: RANDOM ACCESSORIES.
Those Alexander McQueen shades are TO DIE FOR. They’re on sale now – not cheap, but definitely affordable if you’re looking to add some Alexander McQueen fabulosity to your wardrobe. The Missoni scarf is gorgeous. We have Missoni winter hats and scarves that have lasted us for years. We still pack and wear them to every February fashion week, even though they’re close to a decade old. They last and they don’t go out of style. As for jewelry, it’s Bauble Bar. Go nuts. They always have a ton of really trendy and fresh-looking costume jewelry. We love the “Amaryllis” earrings, which are perfect for the holidays.
What’s catching your eye here, darlings?
