Style Double Shot: Chloë Moretz in Alexander McQueen and Erdem

One of the most consistent mistakes Miss Chloe Grace tends to make in her style choices is picking looks with proportions that don’t suit her body. In fact, it’s so consistent a mistake that she’ll make it before the end of this post. But not here – and that’s what makes this otherwise wildly overdesigned look work for her. We wish we had the power to magically edit at least half those ruffles out and reimagine that nun-like collar and neckline, but the shape is working like gangbusters for her. She has a tendency to also pick overwrought looks (again, see below for more), but this actually feels a little scaled back in comparison to a lot of recent choices. It’s one of those weird instances where a not-great dress somehow makes for a great look on the right wearer.

Girl, that is so very not your dress. We understand why you chose it, since apparently a law was recently passed requiring all lady celebs to wear one of these over-embroidered monstrosities at least once a week, but this dress is eating you alive, dear. You are so thoroughly being swallowed up by this dress that we fear it may soon cut off your oxygen supply. It’s just too much goddamn dress, is what we’re saying.

It’s also not particularly pretty and we can’t roll our eyes enough at this micro-trend of super-twee prairie dresses with sexy necklines.
