We predict that history won’t be kind to this era of red carpetry.
At some point, we’re all going to look back at 2015 – 2017 and ask, “What the hell was the deal with all those silly, embroidered, puffy-sleeved sheer gowns?” And we will be able to say proudly that we stood firm against them all.
This isn’t the worst iteration of the trend we’ve seen, although it’s coming off a little tired at this point. The embroidery is at least cohesive and pretty. And we give her all the credit in the world for making sure to wear a lined version of this dress. But those sleeves look silly to us; fussy to an almost absurd level. And maybe we’re just being picky at this point (FAR too late for THAT), but the high neckline and exuberant sleeving lead us to think she should have worn her hair up and/or back. You’re wearing this ludicrous princess dress and you leave your hair down?
