We could not be more thrilled that Lela Rose staged its runway show as a literal sidewalk sashay, seating their guests at Café Altro Paradiso for a light lunch to go with their fashion. After all, we’ve been predicting that the celebrity sidewalk sashay will some day replace the red carpet as the best way to showcase designer wares. You can walk a runway and you can walk a red carpet, but if you really want to show off the goods to a buying public, walk a sidewalk.
It would be easy to chalk such staging up to mere stunt work, but the collection itself couldn’t have been better suited for this kind of showcase. The looks range from breezy, girly street wear to full on fantasy pieces, all with a vaguely “princess in the city” vibe to it. Holly Golightly meets Carrie Bradshaw in the 21st century.
Don’t miss the rest of our New York Fashion Week spring 2017 coverage, darlings.
