Dakota Fanning in Miu Miu at the “Women’s Tales” Photocall

Dakota Fanning attends photocall for “Women’s Tales” during the 73rd Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

This is the perfect Dakota Fanning look. And by that we mean it’s cute enough, and about as much as we can expect from her given her clear preferences.

Does that sound a little backhanded? It’s not meant to. At this point, given how consistent she’s been in her style for some time now, you’ve got to expect a lot more black than she needs, some heavy-ass shoes, and a dress that does the job unfussily, giving the impression once again that it’s a garment to which she has no relationship and for which she has no real opinion either way.  It gets the job done, period.

Put it this way: Kristen Stewart would probably look a lot like this on the red carpet if she didn’t have an almost mutant-like inborn ability to wear high-fashion edgy Chanel couture.

The dress is cute. The waist isn’t quite where it needs to be and if asked, we’d have done everything in our power to steer her away from a yellow-and-black combo, but it gets the job done. The shoes are hopelessly Fanning. The hair’s a bit… shall we say, windblown. It’s not the best way to style her, but there’s no doubt that this is how she wants to be styled for things like this. It’s not quite a uniform but it’s pretty close.
