“Fargo” actress Kirsten Dunst attends the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
This almost seems a little too high-fashion for the Emmys:
Although it would look a little odd at the Oscars too, mainly for not being generic and cookie-cutter.
Do we love this? Not really. We can’t tell you how much we hate that we’re coming off like prudes lately, but we just can’t deal with all the plunging necklines. Not because ladypillows are inherently dirty, but because so many of these plunges – like the one above – tend to be set in bodices that aren’t really the best style and shape for them. Proportionally speaking, the bodice would just look better if the neckline came to a point several inches higher than it is.
As for the rest of it, we like that it has a dark, gothy edge to it, simply because that’s not a well-trod path for most awards show gowns. And while we like this sheer skirt about as much as we like most sheer skirts (not much at all), it’s at least got an interesting feel to it with the vertical stripes and simple shape giving it something of a waterfall effect. Your eye is forced to travel down, making her legs seem about twice as long as they are.
