Singer and actress Jennifer Hudson attends the NBCUniversal Press Tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

And now, the kind of complaint only a fashion blogger would make. And we’d bet you’re not gonna guess what it is.

Time’s up. It’s the print. We’re kind of hating the trend for small-scale, subtly colored prints. It’s not that we don’t think they can look pretty in the right situation. It’s that they photograph terribly. Muddy and blurry, the only vibe they tend to give off is one of vagueness. Promo events require bright colors and boldness. You’re standing in front of a peacock, after all.

It’s not always easy to take away inspiration from a venue as false and rarefied as your average red carpet, but we think there’s a lesson here. Delicate prints should stay in the closet if you’re at an event where your picture is being taken. Assuming you care at all about how you look in pictures. Poor Miss Jennifer here looks like she’s wearing a sheet.

A very, very tight sheet.
