“Hail, Caesar!” and “Captain America: Civil War” actress Scarlett Johansson is honored by the Gene Siskel Film Center with the 2016 Renaissance Award at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois.
Miss Scarlett’s having a good week, career-wise. First she was designated the highest-grossing film actress of all time, then she picked up an award for herself. All in all, a good week to be Scarlett Johansson.
Too bad her style choices don’t reflect it. Oh, well. An ugly dress – and that’s the worst one we’ve seen in at least a couple of weeks – doesn’t take away from her accomplishments. It just frames them badly.
Can we take a moment and discuss the irony of the highest-grossing film actress getting to that point largely for a role the studio refused to highlight by giving it a solo film? A role and character that, over and over again, was left out of the franchise’s massive merchandising campaigns? A role that her male co-stars labeled a slut during the film’s press junket?
Anyone wanna tackle that one?
