Not to be mean (which is a thing you say just before you set out to be mean), but if you’re standing next to Ellen Degeneres on the red carpet and you’re the one wearing the ugly outfit, a severe and immediate re-assessment is called for.

Cause that dress is RANDOM.

Ellen’s doing alright. The proportions are more or less working; proportions being the thing she most often gets wrong in her style. The jacket’s cute enough, although we don’t know why she insists on wearing either big, boxy jackets or jackets that look like she can’t button them because they’re half a size too small. No happy mediums with this gal. Portia’s serving up pretty great hair and face, but we can’t with that dress. Someone is going to argue that there’s some sort of a fishnet theme going on here, and we have pre-emptively decided we’re not buying it. It’s just a weirdly distracting dress.
