Elle Fanning in Lanvin at “The Neon Demon” Paris Premiere

Elle Fanning attends the premiere of “The Neon Demon” held at UGC Ciné Cité in Paris, France.

Wow! After a long sojourn in a colorless desert (from a style perspective), Miss Elle has finally ditched the washed-out bleaching-accident frocks she’s favored since forever and embraced color!

So it’s not at all surprising she kinda gets it wrong!

First, she looks great in that red. More of that, please. But let’s ditch the slightly creepy Lolita styling, yes? And let’s never wear a choker again, Miss Elle, yes? Because you have not shown a facility for choosing good ones (of which, we maintain there are very few in number). THAT IS A CAT COLLAR. We get that you’re shooting for an ooh-la-la sort of Frenchiness here, but that thing looks like it should have the number of the people we’re to contact if you get lost.

It’s kind of a go-to critique of a dress like this and we’re sorry to return to this well yet again, but it really does look like a figure-skating costume rather than a dress. It’s a bit too tricky for a red carpet situation. The black pumps are an incredibly dull and basic choice for a dress like this. And the mismatched red (not to mention the cheap look) of the choker is causing furious eyelid twitches on our parts.
