In all honesty, almost nothing here is working for us:
This may just be an FMO – For Models Only – dress. Looks great for 45 seconds on a runway, but good luck trying to get in and out of a car wearing it. Not that such practical concerns are what’s fueling our dislike here. We just plain don’t like the design. The textile, the length, the colors and the big honkin’ body ruffle are too much for any woman – even one blessed with Supreme DNA – to handle in a real-world setting. If you can call a red carpet the “real world.” We don’t think the shoes do much to help the situation. There’s already so much going on with the dress that the shoes – and to a lesser extent, the hoops and lip color – are pushing the look into “overwhelming” territory. At least to our admittedly nitpicky eyes. There’s an argument to be made that the CFDAs are an event where you’re supposed to really push things, but this doesn’t come off avant garde as much as it does over-styled to us.
