“Girls” star Lena Dunham attends the 2016 CFDA Fashion Awards held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
We’ve never tested this theory, but we’re pretty sure the following sentence is the one we write most often in our red carpet posts:
You had us until we got to the shoes, dear.
Not that we love the dress – or the bag and necklace, for that matter – but they all suit her quite well and we could be convinced that she was working some sort of post-mod take on Mod, even if it is all frumpy as hell and looks like her slip is showing. But then we get to the toddler heels and big red neon signs that read “I CAN’T” start flashing over our heads. And that’s when we know it’s all over, darlings. Sure, it’s all very Lena Dunham, and we suppose the fashion crowd ate it up with a spoon because it’s ever-so-cheeky, but as far as we’re concerned, this ensemble makes her look like she stumbled there half-drunk.
