We don’t hate this, exactly. It’s a beautiful suit in its own way and it strikes us as an attempt by a superstar with a sizable ego to be as respectful and non-egocentric as she possibly can. It is, in essence, Prince drag. Which isn’t wrong so much as it’s a little disappointing from a stagewear or style perspective. If Madonna had called us up and said “Bitches, what should I wear for the Prince tribute I’m doing?” we would have responded with “Bitch, just don’t go out like you’re co-starring in Purple Rain. Find some way to interpret or pay homage without literally wearing a Prince costume from 1987.” And then she probably would have said, “You bitches are right,” and we would have responded, “Bitch, we know,” and then she would’ve said “Thanks, bitches” and hung up without further niceties.

But alas, things don’t tend to go the way we truly wish they’d go, do they?

No, really. It’s fine. It’s just kind of … expected.
