Katie Holmes spotted on the set of “The Kennedys: After Camelot” in costume as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. In the first scene, Katie is kissed by her co-star. In the second scene, Katie is hounded by photographers on the street. Even Director Jon Cassar got in on the action and joined the paparazzi with his own camera to take stills for the film.
We don’t know why, but this casting looks sillier each time we’re faced with it – and we know she’s already played Jackie before. Forget the lack of resemblance, it’s the entire persona that feels off. Katie Holmes, whatever else she is, doesn’t really come to mind as an actress that embodies the old school American aristocracy that Jackie came from. This becomes even more obvious depending on the costume.
The first costume is a somewhat generic period costume that isn’t exactly an iconic Jackie O look. She looks like anybody and nobody. The second look is so dead-on Jackie that it comes close to a drag impersonation, in which case it almost doesn’t matter whose face is behind those shades and under that wig.
