Jessica Chastain attends the 2016 Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala at The Lincoln Center in New York City.
While you take in all the WTFery on display, consider this: Miss Jessica has made a classic red carpet mistake.
She has taken a look directly from the runway and is trying to make it work for a much different sort of picture-taking scenario. Both of these pieces would be better served by being paired with other pieces that support them rather than fight with them. It’s fine to pair them for the 90 seconds they’ll be on a runway, fighting with 60 other high-impact looks for attention, but they need a little space to breathe out in the so-called real world – even if it’s that highly unrealistic part of it known as the celebrity red carpet appearance.
Also, those shoes are a tacky choice. Let’s just say it. In fact, overall from literally head to toe, we’d say she’s trying awfully hard for an event like this. If she was opening her own movie we could understand all the sparkly-glam look-at-me-ism, but it comes off as a bit of a hard sell in a “supporting the arts” situation.
