Helen Mirren attends the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.
Queen Helen, we never thought we’d say this…
But we only want to see you laughing in your purple lace.
Because honestly, it’s a purple lace gown. This is not a thing we’re inclined to love. And to be purely clinical about it, we don’t think there’s much about this dress to love – that is, if it were on another wearer/in another location/lacking the context that faux-tat so clearly provides.
In other words, it’s a purple lace gown, a thing we’re never really going to love, but it’s a flawless Prince homage in a place where no one expected to see one. It’s all about the timing. This would’ve been almost generic at, say, the Grammys this year. But on Queen Helen at the White House, it becomes a major fashion moment.
Love the bag, but it really doesn’t go, does it?
