Anne Hathaway attends the premiere of Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass” at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California.
The last couple of times we featured Miss Annie, we noted that her post partum red carpet style had a distinctly “got better things to do” laid-back approach to it. But Miss Annie appears to have found our characterization of her style choices to be a bit off-base. “LAID BACK?!?!??” she (probably) shouted, “I’LL SHOW THOSE BITCHES ‘LAID BACK!'”
Fair enough, Annie. That cannot rightly be called a “laid back” approach.
Do we like this? Well… parts of it. Maybe. It’s a bit much to look at (stripes AND big floral applique is a lot for one little dress), but it’s striking in its own way. We think we’d like it more if it was either strapless or had more conventional straps than those tricky little faux stems.
You know what the main issue is here? For us, anyway? They’re not even pretty flowers. We think we might like this design in theory, but the more we look at the applique, the more those flowers look kind of ugly. It’s an interesting idea for a dress – and she’s working it pretty damn well (head styling: on point) – but we’re working too hard to try and like it and a dress this bold shouldn’t inspire that kind of effort. It either works or it doesn’t.
