We were ready to write this look off until we saw the runway version. Now we’re just grateful she showed such taste.

But that still doesn’t make it a very exciting look. The beading and the star motif do their best to add some interest, but it’s still just another funeral gown on the red carpet. What bugs more than usual is the choice to wear it here, of all places. You don’t play it safe and follow stale trends at the MTV Movie Awards. We wouldn’t expect her to show up in something avant garde, but we’d have liked it if she hadn’t gone so formal. She can pull off edgier, more modern stuff than this. We suppose she should be commended for doing a lite-goth kind of thing, but again, that’s not exactly the freshest take in the world of style.
