Gwyneth Paltrow attends “Inside Goop with Gwyneth Paltrow & Lisa Gersh” event in Chicago, Illinois.
Credit where it’s due: this is the least obnoxious thing she’s worn in ages.
In fact, it’s almost surprisingly low key for her, which makes us realize just now how attention-seeking her fashion normally is. It’s not the first word we’d have used to describe her style choices, but seeing her in something relatively sedate like this makes all the pajamas and jumpsuits and weird dresses of her recent red carpet past snap into high contrast.
It suits her. The dress has just enough interest to prevent it from being nondescript but not so much interest that it demands that you look at her, which makes, we suppose, a savvy sort of sense for a live event because it promotes a self-confidence on her part. An “I don’t have to dress like movie star to hold your attention” approach. And it’s always smart when you’re going to be appearing on a stage, to wear interesting shoes. This is pretty well done all around.
She just needs a major hair rethink – and a friend bold enough to tell her.
