“Once Upon a Time” actors Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas attend the John Varvatos 13th Annual Stuart House benefit presented by Chrysler with Kids’ Tent by Hasbro Studios at John Varvatos in Los Angeles, California.

These two.

Even when they more or less get it right, we have to resist the eye-rolling urge.

Which really isn’t fair on our parts, but then again, we didn’t exactly take an oath of objectivity when we hung out our shingle. They have such an extensive history of bad fashion choices paired with outrageously self-important posing that it actually took us a moment to realize that neither of those things are in evidence here.

Granted, he still needs work on his posing.

While her brow game is a bit too strong and the lip color a bit too red, the rest of the look is aces, as far as we’re concerned. Sure, the mismatched whites caused some momentary eyelid-twitching, but the dress is really pretty and the earrings are so quietly sublime that they almost make the whole look. But a little white cardi would’ve been a better choice, if it was coverage she was seeking. There’s too much structure to that jacket when paired with that dress. Does that make sense? A soft, lacy white prego gown doesn’t need a shoulder-padded, shaw-collared jacket to fight with.

As for him, we’ll say this: he’s probably wearing John Varvatos and while we’d argue none of this really strikes us as the right style for him, he’s pulling it off better than we’d have predicted. Still, the douche fumes wafting off that outfit – seriously: a semi-sheer shirt AND a necklace AND skinny white jeans AND 5 pounds of hair product – would be damn near fatal if he wasn’t so ill-suited to it and unable to fully pull it off. His blandness is counteracting the douchiness of the look.

This was more negative than we meant. No, really. She looks really good and he’s wearing an outfit that could’ve come off a lot worse and was probably handed to him along with his invitation.
